does shepard die in mass effect 3's DLC ending?

I assume you are asking about the upcoming "Extended Cut" DLC scheduled for Summer release.

Bioware emphasized that the "Extended Cut" DLC will not change the current ending. It will just explain the ending, give players more closure.

So, if your Shepard survived/died in your current ending, he/she will still do so with the "Extended Cut" DLC.

(And you know Shepard can survive even in the current endings, right?)

Whatever happened in your Mass Effect 3 ending will still be the same in the DLC. In my opinion Shepard is dead no-matter what! Unfortunately. The DLC is just some extra cinematics to explain the ending you've chosen and supposedly what happens to the characters.

If you mean "from the ashes", the only ending difference is that the extra character might step off the ship after Joker instead of one of the other squadmates in the blue and red endings.

They have mentioned they will be explaining the endings better in "the truth" dlc, but last I heard it was going to be released in the summer. I'm looking forward to them explaining why an old dude would be telling a kid a story with sex in it while they're stargazing in a forest clearing.

Hmmm.. All DLC's that have been released haven't affected any singleplayer story elements. So, to answer your question, we'll have to wait for some story DLC.
