我的媽媽在 2009 年8月取得綠卡，同年 9 月即回台灣，但因為我爸在 2010 年被檢驗出罹患膀胱癌，我媽必須要照顧他，到了 2011 年，我媽也因為脊椎滑脫住院開刀，開刀後根據醫生囑附，需在半年內每月定期回院回診。
現我媽想在今年 10 月份再到美國去，但距離上次出境已超過3年，請問她仍然可以持綠卡入境嗎 ? 需不需要開醫生診斷證明?? 因為我媽滯留美國的意願不高，是不是直接辦理放棄綠卡比較好?? 又, 放棄綠卡後再辦美國觀光簽證會不會因此而被刁難呢??

1. No in theory, as in this case, SB-1 Visa will be needed.
But most people do that anyway with the original Permanent Resident Card.
2. I will say it is best to prepare everything in advance (it is best to be in English as well).
3. It is up to your mother's decision. No one can really comment on that.
Remember - AIT is not obligated to issue a travel visa to your mother after surrendering the card.
