speaking

My teacher said i had a problem of intonation.
I have a low voice. (therefore I sound boring)
How to improve in intonation?
I think using intonation is extremely odd and quite pretentious somehow.
I really can't do this.

But I think my presentation is really so boring. I don't know how to make stress on words. I find it weird. But I think my voice is loud and clear enough. I have a high mark reading a passage but a low mark presenting my ideas.

I am in senior form now. There will not be any passage reading in the future =.= Should I really just work on speaking LOUDER and SLOWER? My teacher said I spoke quite fast = =....it's because I am nervous all the time = =.... I just want the presentation to end as soon as possible = =....

Thank you!

Your teacher is wrong. You don't correct your problem by intonation. Your low voice is your characteristic, not your speaking problem. You use intonation when you make a speech, not in your daily conversation.

Your problem is articulation. Some people don't speak. They mutter or mumble so all the sounds are mixed together. You can correct that by speaking slower, louder and paying attention to each sound syllables. That is articulation. Good articulation helps you to be listened, understood. Bad articulation has the same effect as if you are talking only to yourself.

You need to improve your articulation ( 發音清楚 ) not intonation ( 抑揚頓挫 ).。

If you are doing a presentation, that is a monologue which is close to a speech. For that, intonation will help. Yes, you definitely need to slow down your speed, when you slow down, you will have time to work on articulation and intonation. Pay attention to the "th" sound, the "f" sound and the "s"
