(x-1)>(2x-1) and x>1
x<0 and x>1
When x=1
0>1
When 1/2<x<1
-(x-1)>(2x-1) and 1/2<x<1
x<2/3 and 1/2<x<1
1/2<x<2/3
When x=1/2
1/2>0
x=1/2
When x<1/2
-(x-1)>-(2x-1) and x<1/2
x>0 and x<1/2

Squaring both sides also works since absolute values cannot be negative, we need not care about the direction of the inequality sign.
