Participle phrases

I'm not sure whether my answers are correct.

1.The weather was bad.They stayed at home all day long.
My ans:The weather being bad,they stayed at home all day long.

2.The rain had stopped.They continued their journey.
My ans:The rain being stopped,they continued their journey.

If they are wrong,please tell me the right ones and give explanation.

This reminds me of the lyric "Who stops the rain?"


If they continued their journey,the rain had stopped!

1.Front and back subject positions are different, eg
They stayed at home,weather being bad.
They stayed outside,weather permitting.

(2)When independent "participle phrase" has the subject meaning as a general person,eg we,one, you,then the subject may be eliminated.
Rain beinng stopped,they continued their journey.
(=If they continued their journey,the rain had stopped!
