My project is on the incas
and i need to find information on each topic
one of the topic is "Distance and communication technology, include writing"
so does that mean long distance communication technology?
or is it distance technology and communication technology
i just don't get it can anyone explain it to me?

Well, they did not have the wheel, and no writing either, I am afraid...but they did build roads. Boy, did they. Miles and miles. They certainly had a verbal form of communication, as they did talk. As to how they counted and measured weights and such, we do not know. There is simply no record. Yet. They travelled vast distances, conducting trade, which required communication. We know so little of what that actually looked like, though. Except perhaps what we can glean from other artifacts and findings. Did they collect people for slaves? Did they farm with the use of chinampas, or did they use slash and burn for agriculture? In examining the other aspects of their lives we can try and answer other questions. They may have used knots as a form of counting.

I do not know any thing about runners or smoke signals. I do not think the Ancient Incas were concerned about technology
