Military officer promotion?

As an officer, you start off as Second Lieutenant, by the time you finish your 4-year service, what rank do you usually end up?

Unless you do something out of line, an O-1 (Second Lieutenant or Ensign) will be promoted at the two-year point to O-2 (First Lieutenant/Lieutenant Junior Grade), and in another two years will be promoted to Captain/Lieutenant. That's where you are at the four-year point.

After 4 years of service, a 1st Lieutenant or Captain. Probably a 1st Lieutenant.

Ensign (2nd LT) to LT jg (1st LT) is at the 2 year mark.

LT jg (1st LT) to LT (Captain) is at the 4 year mark.

Unless you completely screw something up.

Normally you put on Captain at the 4-6 year mark.

I think that now you have to have your bachelors or in motion of completing it to make captain.
