I fell from my skateboard earlier, and was diagnosed with closed racture of metatarsal bones and closed dislocation of tarsometatarsal (joint). Xray reveals displaced fractures of proximal bases of 3rd and 4th MT and non-displaced fracture 2nd MT.
My doctor told me surgery is necessary, but I have heard that most foot injuries do not need surgery and foot surgery might cause future walking problem. Is foot surgery necessary?

the key here is "fracture" and "displaced". fracture means broken and displaced means the bone is not lined up right where it should be. that means surgery, yes. if NOT done, you will have walking problems.

Of course, never doubt what you're doctor says chances are he/she knows better than anyone on the internet, but i guess if you don't thinks so go for a second opinion!
