It is actually a Pagan symbol. The rabbit is a symbol of fertility to them. It is only related to the Christian Easter holiday because the Christians adopted it into the religious holiday to make the conversion easier for the Pagans. Christians would do ANYTHING to get people to convert back then.

At least, this is what I learned from reading many articles on the internet and in books and one of my high school teachers even told my entire class about this.

Amelia is right on the money. Christians did this to persuade pagans to accept Christianity and that is why I I am through w/ them because they use bribery and subterfuge. Choosing to be christian should be a free will thing and not this. Would Jesus do this?

It's a symbol of fertility, just like the egg. Spring is thought to be the most fertile time of the year because plants and trees are flowering and it's typically the time of year when animals reproduce. No animal reproduces as quickly and as often as the rabbit.

The Easter Bunny has nothing to do with Easter. It was a custom that Pagans added to Easter so they could make it a "non-religious" part of the holiday so they could still celebrate it. I know I'm prolly gonna get A LOT of thumbs down for this answer, BRING IT ON!
