A snooker table has 6 pockets A.B.C.D.E AND F. As shown in the figure.one in each of the 4 corners and one in the middle of each of the longer side. The distance between pocket C and pocket D is 1.8m. The distance between pocket D and pocket F is 3.6m.

(a) What is the distance between pocket A and pocket D?

(b) What is the distance between pocket A and pocket E?

(c) Does the distance between pocket A and pocket D double the distance between pocket A and pocket E?

a)AF=CD=1.8m
AD^2=3.6^2+1.8^2(Pyth.theorem)
AD=√(12.96+3.24)
=√(16.2)
=4.02m(corr.to 3sig.fig.)//
b)FE=1/2 FD=1.8m
AE^2=1.8^2+1.8^2(Pyth.theorem)
AE=√(3.24+3.24)
=√(6.48)
=2.55m(corr. to 3sig. fig.)//
