What is the difference betwween a high school and a middle school in the US Educational system?
It is always very confusing to me when I see the term "middle school" as I thought the elementary school is for grade 1 to grade 8 and the high school is grade 9 to grade 12.

Honestly nothing. Just 3 different schools instead of 2.
參考: I am an american.
Elementary: grades 1-5. Mostly consists of the 4 main courses including math, science, social studies and language arts.
Middle: grades 6-8. Prepares the students for high school. Pre-algebra, Earth/Space Science, and you have two optional slots for classes in which you can take any class you wish.
High: grades 9-12. Common names for grades: 9(freshamen) 10(sophemore) 11(junior) 12(senior). Start of college prep. Many students stake college level courses/advanced courses.
have been I stay, a lot is diverse. persons are a lot extra mature. They placed on a lot of an identical clothing, and the food is extra helpful when you consider which you may bypass anyplace reason you do not ought to survive campus. i discover that alot much less human beings get picked on through fact anybody is placing out to mature yet even in my midsection college human beings didnt get bullied, you rather purely spoke of folk in the back of their back. Alot extra teenagers are having intercourse, yet i wouldnt worry approximately that. Lame midsection college courting while your human beings rigidity you to hold palms is notably a lot over. Relationships are extra severe. Going to severe college is a substantial exchange yet believe me, severe college is sooooo a lot extra helpful than midsection college!
In some places, there are only two schools: elementary (grades 1 thru 8) and high (grades 9 thru 12). In some places, middle school can be some of those grades: 6 thru 8 is common. When and where I went, it was only 8th grade and it was called Junior High School. The term "middle school" seems to have come from private schools, but this opinion could reflect only my age and locale. The division of grades among elementary/middle(jr hi)/high schools reflects budgets, school building availability and location, and the desirability of separating younger kids from older ones. I would not be surprised to learn that an elementary and middle school, or middle and high school, were housed in the same building in some places.
Kindergarten happens before first grade. Traditionally, it was only one year, but is often multiple years now. It is usually housed in elementary school buildings. We have two elementary schools sitting side-by-side. They've divided the grades between them and call them, I think, a primary and an elementary school. These are words used to categorize grades, and which grade falls within which category can vary according to need and available physical facilities, or irrespective of them.
Elementary is kindergarten thru 5 grade middle is 6 thru 8 some schools even have 9th grade then high school is 9 to 12 the schools aren't so big when you have 3 grades.
Hope I answered your question!!!
