Grammar question, please help.?

The bird is in the tree.
The bird is on the tree.

Which one is correct? If I want to say something is "at" the tree, do I use "on" or "in"? Thank you very much.

Also:
Please copy the word "onto" your notebook.
Please copy the word "into" your notebook. Which one is correct?

If I am talking to a class, do I use singular or plural?
for example: Please open your book. (or Please open your books.)
Please get back to your seat. (or Please get back to your seats.)
Please write down your name on the paper. (Please write down your names on the paper).

'in' the tree

It is 'in' your notebook

Open your book (the book is a single item)
Back to your seat (each person has one seat)
Write your name ( each person has one, single name)

We say "the bird is in the tree" because the position of the bird is somewhere in the middle of the tree.

"At the tree" would usually refer to something on the ground near the base of the tree.

We say "into" your notebook.

Addressing a class, you should use the plural.

Note that I am in the US. The last answer (plural) is correct for both US and UK, but people in the UK may differ on those prepositions. There are some differences in the way we use prepositions.
