Would you buy this dog?

Taking a break from my writing so thought i'd ask another fairly random q.

If you saw this ad would you buy this dog? Why or why not?

Very rare chocolate liver female Shih Tzu, born 6-26-2010. Housebroke, all shots dewormed and has been vet cleared and microchipped. She has had one litter of puppies for us and we feel she would be a better pet than a mommy. She loves to be with humans but does not like mommyhood. She is not snappy or aggressive just doesn't like to nurse and be with her babies, would rather be with her human companions. Very sweet and loving little girl. She has not been around young children much, so we would rather she go to an all adult home as she may be nervous around small kids. Perfect little girl for anyone wanting a nice pet, that still has many years of enjoyment, but does not want to go thru the puppy, housebreaking and teething stage. THIS BABY GIRL WILL COME ALREADY SPAYED, SO NO BREEDERS NEED INQUIRE. SHE WILL BE READY TO GO IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS. If picked up at my home in IN, there will be a sales tax charge of 7%, or I can meet in Harrison OH to avoid that charge.

And for those doing the math yes she was bred under 2 years of age.

And yet you answered anyways. Guess that says something about you.

Julie: Nope, just another crap breeder. Some states enforce sales tax on sales made from breeders. they are treated the same as a retail sell. Up here in Maine is 5%. The only way around that is to sell the pup OUT of state. In other words if I was to breed any pups sold and transferred in the state of maine would be subject to the 5% tax, any pups shipped out of state would not. borderline: try $400. And no one with a brain would breed this dog. She's a few pounds under the standard. Samantha: not into Shih Tzus or 99% of small breeds. Second I wouldn't give this person $400 bucks so she can keep on producing sub par dogs. then again since her pups go for 800-2500 based on color and how small they are 400 is a drop in the bucket. At the end of the day I agree on a good home. Because her current one only saw her as a four legged atm

更新3:

Ignorance: Uh no offense but did you read the weights on their dogs? Or down on the bottom with their statement of specializing in "imperial and small standard" Small standard nothing, all of their dogs are under 9lbs. And i'm sorry but anyone who says the extra cost is because of champions in the pedigree and "rare" color isn't a good breeder.

So, what's with the 7% sales tax? Is this from a broker?

Aside from it being a breed I don't have any desire to own whatsoever....we'll just pretend it is.

If the price was right I suppose (ya know the under $200 mark, only cause she's spayed).

But there are quite a few WTF moments in here that I'd almost be inclined to call them in as a small scale puppy mill.
"She makes us do work when her little money makers are born soooo we no longer want her" is what it seems like they're saying here.

But then "We know she's a rare colour so we don't want YOU putting in more effort than us and making more money than we did so we spayed her!!!"

Sounds like whack jobs to me.

I want to know how they know what color her liver is.

So....obviously a commercial breeder wanting to get rid of a "dud". I'd worry about lack of socialization.

Nope, I wouldn't buy a dog from a back yard breeder.

Yes, Chocolate is not really a color its just a darker Liver and liver Shih Tzus are quite rare and being that she will be spayed shot and everything done I don't see why asking $400 is too much for what vet work has been done. Which costs way more than $400. A good breeder will notice when an mother dose not enjoy being with her puppies. My mentor had a female like this she had her Ch title she had one litter of puppies she did not enjoy being around them and dreaded when she was away from her puppies to be with her human mom. She has had her spayed after that litter and she is now "an auntie" to all of the puppies.

I actually found their website and they look pretty good but they do not show their parents and I did not see anything about health testing just for eyes but they have some beautiful Shih Tzus. Not breed standard re-guarding weight I would not purchase an puppy from them. But If I was looking for an retired Shih Tzu I wouldn't turn one away if I really liked them. Rescues here charge allot more than $400 for the "desirable" dogs.

I see what you are saying and I said I would never purchase an puppy from an breeder who did not health test parents and did not breed for standard. None of the parent dogs even meet the 9-16 pound standard set by AKC.

Short and simple: These people sound as thick as a post from the sounds of it.

I would not buy the dog. And I agree with you ("And i'm sorry but anyone who says the extra cost is because of champions in the pedigree and "rare" color isn't a good breeder.")!

No, because we rescue only Pomeranians (But I do want a Chinese Crested). We never buy from breeders.

(Rare colours also depend on the city. Where I live any kind of Pomeranian that is NOT orange or blond or red, is rare.)

No=I don't ever want the breed...BYBd junk or not & color is completely immaterial.

Hi Bethany I don't want to sound preachy BUT have to agree with the others about the risk of buying over the internet. Puppy farmers want to sell healthy looking dogs but they really don't give a toss about the dogs health once you have had it for a while. Before long you will fall in love with your dog regardless of where you got it from but wouldn't you rather a dog that will live to a ripe old age rather than die prematurely or be plagued with expensive illnesses. Our first dog was from a puppy farm- we bought it from Harrods and at 5 he is healthy but we were lucky and naive. We now know better!!!! Why not try looking for breed specific forums and wait until you get a feel for them and then ask for recommendations, if you are convinced that the forum is full of caring and professional breeders who know what they are doing? Best of luck

no, even if it was a bigger breed, unless it was a working breed then no i wouldnt buy

i'd give a home to a dog needing it to help it if it was being rehomed and i had time and space, but buy is a different story.

the only time color should matter in prize is if the color is undesired according to breed standard, then the price should show this by going down

show championship on a spayed dog being rehomed as a pure pet can claim no value, what posible value does it have for an owner of a spayed pet to have a show championship realisticly...now if it was a working title thats a whole other ball game

1.Never heard of one .
2.I don't like them
3 this person is contraindicating themselves , First by saying that the dog is house broken then saying that the dog is not .
4 Too many gaps in the story / add .

This dog may have some issues, but I think some may be caused by the previous owner. I get that hint when he tells you about the tax. If I had some time to put more attention to this dog, yes. I would buy it in a heartbeat and give it a loving home. But, if you do not have time on your hands then it would be best to pass on this one. I just pray this dog finally finds a loving home.
