Grammar question, please help.?

If you say "are there any chocolates?" it is clear that you are referring to candies made of or covered with chocolate. But such chocolates are not usually refrigerated, due to the discoloration that results.

If you say 'is there any chocolate?" it is unclear what you mean. Chocolate milk? Chocolate pudding? Chocolate cake? Chocolate ice cream? Anything containing chocolate?

If you are referring to a box of chocolates: plural.

If you are referring to any chocolate at all, like a syrup, or a chocolate bar, then use the singular.

The first asks specifically about pieces of chocolate (e.g. the sort of expensive dainty pieces that come nicely separated in boxes).
The second asks about chocolate in general, regardless of shape, form or quantity.
Although it may do chocolate little good to be kept in a refrigerator, in a hot climate where the ambient temperature in the sun approaches the melting point of chocolate, it may be necessary.
I should imagine there are more general inquries about run of the mill chocolate being in the fridge than about boxes of expensive chocolates there, and so would vote your second question as probably the more commonly used.

I use neither. I do not keep my chocolate in the fridge. That is just silly.
