The following example is demonstrated using Excel 2002:
First assuming you want to lock row 1 with a password and everthing else unlock...
1) Select the entire worksheet
2) Format -> Cell -> Protection
3) UNCHECK "Locked"
4) Select row 1
5) Format -> Cell -> Protection
6) CHECK "Locked"
7) Tools -> Protection -> Protect Worksheet...
8) CHECK "Protect worksheet and contents of locked cells"
9) Define a password to unprotect sheet
10) Press 'Ok' and reenter the password
Now when you want to change row 1, you will need to enter the password.
