Well dude neither really. Gary doesn't have a fixed home as he is always travelling around the world catching pokemon, and occasionally waiting around for Ash to pass through so he can ambush him with his "team of amazing pokemon he just caught". Professor Oak pretty much lives in his lab/pokemon-farm, he has to take care of the stored pokemons and stuff.
