No. It is not true. The fringes arising from double-slit interference are of non-uniform brightness.

You could refer to the following web-page, which gives an equation for the intensity of the interference pattern. In fact, the intensity of fringes varies with a complex sine fucntion.

The fringe intensity (or brightness) is about uniform only when the slit width a is much much smaller than the 入, wavelength of light used.
