There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, 'It is just as I feared! -
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,

This is a children's poem. A children's poem is for fun. Usually silly to make the children laugh. Short, simple words because they are for kids. Rhymes well to help them remember. Like

Humpty Dumpty sits on the wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

I wonder if there is any deep meaning behind. So for your purpose, don't try to dig on the meaning, try something else. Use a video clip to show how would the scene look like when that happened. imitate the sounds of the birds, the reaction of the old man, etc. Make it fun, don't try to explain it to make it serious. If you can make your audiences ( teachers, schoolmates, principal ) laugh, you are a sure winner.
