My worksheet shows a question "describe an experiment to demonstrate the polarization of mechanical waves".
I wonder why polarization could occur in mechanical waves and how to describe such an experiment.

A transverse wave set up on a slinky spring is already a plane polarized wave, as the up-and-down vibration is contained in a vertical plane.
