A test consists of parts A and B only. Timothy scores 75 marks and 12 marks in part A and B of the test respectvely. Tommy's score in part A is 10% lower than that of Timothy and their total scores are the same. By what perentage is Tommy's score in part B higher than that of Timothy ?

Let x% be Tommy's score in part B higher than that of Timothy :Tommy's part A + part B scores = Timothy's part A + part B scores
75 + 12 = 75(1 - 10%) + 12(1 + x%)
87 = 67.5 + 12(1 + x%)
19.5 = 12(1 + x%)
19.5/12 = 1 + x%
1.625 = 1 + x%
0.625 = x%
0.625 * 100% = x%
62.5% = x%
The answer is 62.5%
