the mixture of lead(II)sulphide and lead(II)oxide is heated strongly, the residue is then heated with excess carbon

formula:
2PbS+3O 2 →2PbO+2SO 2

2PbS系咪即系lead(II)sulphide 咁3O2邊度來既?同埋點解會系2PbO出左來?

The extraction of Pb is carried out by two reactions:
1. PbS is heated strongly in presence of air/oxygen.
2. PbO is formed which is further reduced by carbon/carbon monoxide to form Pb.

So the equation you gives is actually the first step of the reaction.
