I am in a sticky situation?

I got invited to a tryout in an academy in New York for the USTA National training center which is in the US Open. I did really well and just today the guy called my dad and said I might be qualified for a full time scholarship... I have to go next week to stay there all for the full day of the academy for another tryout. I feel a little uncomfortable because I barely know anything about the academy and I know I really want to do this but I just feel like everything is happening so fast, and I don't understand my emotions. I like my surroundings and my environment now, but to move to new york full time is a bit scary and nervewrecking even though I have worked so hard for this. what do i do? and what I am feeling? Please HELP!!! :(

You either want it or you don't. If someone asks you if you like your favorite food do you hesitate when you answer?

A good private coach can serve you as well as an academy. Costs much more though.

You can always try it and see. Stick it out for a month and then make your decision.

Given your hesitation, it sounds like you would be better off taking the college route like Isner. Are your parents pressuring you?

no one looks back in life and regrets going for something.

people do look back in life all the time and regret not going for it.

Enjoy the ride, try to have fun, but be prepared to work hard. If you refuse to work, or get into trouble somehow, they may send your butt home, pronto.

Don't expect it to be a non-stop party. If your work ethic is good, that's big stuff.

OTOH, don't work so hard that you injure yourself. If you're injured, you don't do anybody any good. Learn how to take care of your body and keep in running like a finely-tuned sports car :-) [It's complicated.]

You don't have to be pals with everybody, so don't try to be. It shouldn't take more than a week or so to figure out who the good kids are and who the troublemakers are.

As Will Rogers once said, "Never miss a good chance to shut up."

Please remember this: Sportsmanship is #1. If you win, but cheat or use gamesmanship in the process, you really didn't win a tennis match, you just committed theft or something similar to theft.

Best of luck, kid, hope you have fun, make a couple of friends, improve your skill level, win a few matches and/or tournaments :-)

Sometimes, bad things happen fast too, this could be the good one. If You do not do it, You may regret it rest of your life. Looks like You are not the jumpy person, so that will help, do it in controlled fashion(steady as she goes...) Your feeling is natural and there are others on the same boat...

You should really go for it. It's going to be an amazing experience for you, and if you don't go for it I'm 150% sure that you're going to regret it later on.
