In exponential notation, j can be expressed as:

j = ejπ/2

Hence:

√j = (ejπ/2)1/2

= ejπ/4

= (cos π/4 + j sin π/4)

= (√2 / 2) (1 + j)

According to your given, I guess that you may want to ask 3√j:

3√j = (ejπ/2)1/3

= ejπ/6

= (cos π/6 + j sin π/6)

= (1/2) (√3 + j)
