1. Not all people find chibi cute.
2. Chibi style is appropriate for limited audience and story lines.
3. Chibi style comes out as rather "immature". I think chibi is a stepping stone towards a more formal art style. Stopping there and not trying to improve your art is killing your potential.

If you don't mind the limited amount of people who can appreciate your style, or if you don't strive for popularity, then you can go ahead and draw whatever you want. Note that popularity entails doing what OTHER people like over what YOU like. If they happen to coincide, good for you. XD

Depends what age range your characters are because if your character is 22 it would be a bit strange for them to be a chibi....I think you should switch off, say if you were to make a filler chapter or something, then you could use them as chibi, but I wouldn't recomend using pure chibi for it.

Chibi is much more easier to draw actual characters because there is less detail. Chibi is also very cute.
