brobdingnagian

This word “brobdingnagian” is seldom used in English, even though it is listed as an adjective in some American dictionaries. (~ not found in British dictionaries such as Longman, Cambridge and Collins) There are no examples in the dictionaries. Of course, it is good to know the meaning of “brobdingnagian”, but I hesitate to recommend using it.

On the other hand, we are more interested in the kind of vocabulary that is used in academic speech and writing regardless of which discipline we are concerned with. We need to be familiar with academic vocabulary in order to feel comfortable in academic environment or work place.
