Is this blue ray ps3 worth it?
Not sure if I am doing something wrong or what? I just bought a new ps3 blue ray. From what I viewed on line ps3 was rated top for blue ray players as well as game players. No problem with games they are find. My question is with the blue ray movies. No matter what I do I get a bar at the top and bottom of the TV screen. If I leave the TV set at normal picture I have a small picture in a big TV screen..bars sides and top and bottom. I go to zoom screen on TV then I get just bars top/ bottom. I go to zoom full screen I get full TV screen but picture looks odd. Are these bars normal for blue ray? Tell you the truth I am not all that sure the picture is that much better than when I had my reg Sony DVD hooked up?? My Sony TV is HD but it is about 5 years old..would that make a difference? Not all that happy with it. Do I need a new TV? This one is not the 1080p I do not think. It sets itself on the ps3 as 1080i I think. Or do I just need to get someone to hook the damn thing up for me? Lost for answers. Hope some tv/dvd people out there that know a lot more than me may help???

while blu rays first got here out, the ps3 grow to be approximately seven hundred money and the blu ray gamers that have been better than the ps3 have been 1800-2000 money (humorous how high priced issues are while they first pop out). ps3 then grow to be rated third terrific blu ray participant attainable. human beings offered the ps3 for the blu ray participant on my own. at the instant, the ps3 nonetheless holds its call as third terrific blu ray participant on the marketplace. blu ray gamers that are as solid because of the fact the ps3s version run for kind of 600 money. so specific. it somewhat is worth it to get the ps3 for the blu ray participant on my own. it is likewise its very own media participant. you may play track, watch your individual movies, steam movies, carry photos, and extra. specific there are much less high priced blu rays now (200 dollars or so) yet they dont learn in high quality and capablities.
Don't worry, its normal. And ALL PS3's have Blu ray... The lines are just for wide screen. You can make it full screen if the DVD itself has a feature that lets you. Other than that, they usually come in wide screen (hence the lines). The PS3 can only go up to a higher resolution if you have an HDMI cable. If you don't, it will go max 480p. Anything higher (720p, 1080i, 1080p *1080p is the best by the way) requires an HDMI cable AND a TV that supports 1080p.
Also try to avoid playing normal DVD ROMs and CD ROMs on the PS3. It makes the system work harder to play them. Try your best to play ONLY Blu ray on it. The system doesn't work nearly as hard with Blu ray (since it was designed for it), and overtime it will help the system last longer than people who play DVD/CD ROMs on theirs.
Hope that helps.
Your TVs may not be compatible with the ps3 super sick quality, I use to have this problem except that on my TV the bars were grey and super huge, but I bought a HDMI cable for it and it helped alot but still had the top and bottom bars all big but I have a new TVs now and the ps3 quality and sound have never been better so I recomend to buy a new Tv..

Set your tv ratio to 16:9 ???
Is your TV a fullscreen or widescreen model? If it's fullscreen, then that's why the bars, as fullscreen TVs are not designed for widescreen videos thus having bars on the top and bottom, so it produces a widescreen video effect. Otherwise it would be stretched vertically and look weird.
If it's a widescreen TV, make sure it's properly set to the widescreen format ratio, generally 16:9, widescreen, or theater depending on the TV.
i was always told it had the worst blue ray but i could be wrong
