我想問問如果氣題目系:
The marked price of a carpet is $1800. If it is sold at 40% off,
what is the discount?
系吾系1800 x 40% ??
點解吾系乘(1-40%) ?
佢吾系話40% off 咩??我吾明啊,請你地回答下我

40% off means 40% freeso it is sold at 60% of marked price
in your question, what is the discount
= how much you saved = 1800 x 40% = 720 discount
but the carpet still costs you 1800 x 60% = 1080

乘(1-40%) is the price after discount
x 40% is the discount
discount is the new value - orginal value

英文的40% off (discount percentage)是原價減百分之四十
中文的六折是售價為原價的百分之六十
discount = marked price - selling price = marked price x discount percentage
所以是 1800 x 40%
