Environmentalists Urge CLP Group to Promote Progressive Charges

CLP Group say they have pressure to increase the electricity power fees, but environmentalist groups comment the electricity power charging standard betrays the aim of saving energy. Greenpeace says, high consumers who use over 20000 degrees of electricity monthly, just 2% among all users, with the amount of consumption as high as 42%,but they get discount, which is a regressive fee. Greenpeace urge CLP Group to promote thorough progressive system to non-housing users, estimated that power can be saved 0.9-1.2 billion degrees
Chung Siu Wai, the chief director of Power and Environment Policy Institute, City University says, consumers with monthly usage of 500-2000 degrees are mostly housing users which are suggested to decrease every degree slightly, but the consumers with usage over 5000 degrees, are mostly mass enterprises and SMEs which are suggested to increase the electricity power fee to 7% with CLP Group's progressive fee, in order to stick to users-pay-for-themselves principal. CLP Group may earn an extra revenue of 1.4billion, to handle environmental investment, and release the price-increase pressure of grassroot low-consumption users.

Ring group to promote the power to push progressive fee

CLP earlier that there is pressure to increase fares, but a ring group criticized the CLP's electricity system, and runs counter to energy saving. Greenpeace pointed out that the monthly electricity consumption over twenty thousand high-consumption users, less than two per cent of total users, but electricity consumption accounted for up to 42%, but these high-volume customers enjoy preferential tariffs cart before the horse approach. Agencies for CLP will introduce a comprehensive non-residential customers progressive, is expected to save 900 to 1200 million per year of electricity.
