gradient (urgent)

In the above website (a ski resort website), I can see that there are two ways of expressing gradient, degree and %, what are the differences between the two of them?

actually, the gradient is presenting the ratio of vertical to horizontal.
tan (degree) is also presenting the gradient as well, where the degree is measuring from horizontal.
