A light bulb is labelled "220V ,100w"
a) When the bulb lights to its normal brightness from an a.c. supply, what are the peak values of its voltage and current?

b) If the light bulb is connected to a d.c. supply of 220V, what is the power output?

(a) The label "220v" is the rms voltage. Hence peak voltage
= 1.4 x 220 v = 308 v

rms currrent = 100/220 A = 0.455 A
peak current = 1.4 x 0.455 A = 0.636 A

(b) 100 w
