最近在空中英語教室p.24看到這一句話

不久之後，關於該地獨特美景的口碑開始傳了開來。
請問before word 在這裡主要是什麼意思呢?如果去掉，
只寫這樣It wasn't long about the land's unique beauty began to spread.
意思是不是也一樣呢?

There are a lot of people out there that want to help the police, but maybe they didn't have an outlet.
有很多人想幫助警方，但也許之前沒有管道。
請問out there 在這裡是什麼意思呢?

before 是從屬連接詞(看這裡)，帶領word about the land's unique beauty began to spread.做為It wasn't long 的時間副詞。out there 和that want to help the police都是用來修飾people的形容詞。

"word" 在句中的意思是“口碑”，是個非常重要的詞；"before"修飾的是"word"，"about"修飾的也是"word"，怎麼可以把這麼重要的一個單詞從句中拿掉？試想一下要是把中文翻譯裡的“口碑”一詞拿掉會有什麼後果！

"out there"並沒有什麼特別意思，只是大家口頭上習慣將"there is/are" 連在一起說，如果硬要翻譯成中文的話，平時口頭上說的“在這世上”是最接近的解釋。

- 在這世上有些東西你是永遠不知道的。
(在這世上)有很多人想幫助警方，但也許之前沒有管道。
