Why does my PS3 crash when playing MW3?

I start playing the campaign or Special Ops and a couple of minutes into gameplay my PS3 just shuts down and a red light starts blinking. I press the power button and the flashing stops, I press it again and it starts up normally and displays a message sayi g it was not properly shut down. My console is the original fat 80GB one with a 320GB upgrade. I have cleaned the dust off the vents and have a cooling fan attached. I tried watching movies and using other games and everything works fine. This only happens with COD Modern Warfare 3. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same issue...YLOD happens upon start up, No? Nevertheless, I followed all the right instructions on how to fix YLOD or RLOD by disassembling the unit, removing the old thermal grease and replacing it with new. Still getting the same results. About 15 mins into playing the game, auto-shutoff and blinking red light. I've also heard a potential is power supply issue but in my opinion if that was the case I don't believe I would get past the start up. Any help from a subject matter expert would be great. (and don't appreciate pithy comments so keep them to yourself!)

You need to connect to the internet, login to psn and download the latest patch for the game which automaticcly comes up when you start mw3.
