小弟看了一篇文章:
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes, from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.

我的問題是:one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord .這段話中，為什麼belong要變成belonging呢? 是因為獨立分詞構句的關係嗎?可是若將它還原帶入when、because等從屬連接詞的話，好像也不符說~還是另有原因呢?
