Complex transitive

definition: A verb that takes a direct object plus an object complement or an obligatory adverbial

"She hurled the bag across the river".

If we remove the prepositional phrase (adverbial) from the sentence, "she hurled the bag" becomes meaningless or incomplete. So "across the river" is obligatory adverbial and "hurl" fits in the definition of complex transitive verb.

mis15 on verb complement:-
(grammar)of verb used with a direct object is:-
"She" is subject
the verb"hurled" is transitive and the word "bag" is the direct object.
In grammar ,Indirect object before the direct object, but the verb"hurled" is still transitive, and the word "bag" is the direct object.
