What should I do to my partner at prom?

I asked this girl to be my partner and go to the prom with me later this week, and she agreed. So, at the prom, what am I supposed to do with my partner that night? Am I supposed to stay with her for the whole night? That's kinda clingy.

You can certainly mix and mingle at the prom. But if you don't stay with your date for most of the night that is pretty rude.

As for how to behave, there are no set rules but...
you could buy her a corsage
you could compliment her on her dress/hair/makeup
you could thank her for being your date

Not sure what has you concerned about being "clingy", but as a general rule, when a guy asks a girl to prom, it's because he doesn't mind spending the whole night close to her.

Take her to get something to eat and maybe to the movies. That way you both can have fun but you don't have to talk much then just drop her off at home. You don't have to do what anybody else is doing. Just be yourself. Have a good time and be respectful. Good luck.
