✔ 最佳答案
kind of romance (noun phrase) 不對

your pretending to be somebody else (noun phrase- as subject of the noun clause)
is (verb)
kind of (adverbial) 有點兒 slightly but not exactly (=kinda American English spoken)
romantic (adjective)

問題一.

正確的句子應該寫成:
(1) I guess (that) it is kind of romantic that you prentend to be somebody else.
(use of introductory "it" connecting with a that-clause)

(2) I guess (that) your pretending to be somebody else is kind of romantic.
(noun phrase as subject of predicate - "kind of romatic")

(3) That you pretend to be somebody else, I guess, is kind of romantic.
(noun clause as subject of predicate, with parenthesis 插入語)

All of the above three sentences are spoken English.
- I guess: spoken 認為 (used when you believe something is true or likely but are not certain - Cambridge dictionary)
- kind of: American Englishspoken 有點兒 ( =kinda; slightly but not exactly, or in some ways [= sort of] - Longman dictionary)

問題二
問子句內可否又有子句?
當然可以。上面第一句便是

I think (that) it is somewhat romantic that you prentend to be somebody else.

Yes, I am stupid. ("stupid" is a predicative adjective modifying subject "I")
If "stupid" can be a noun (countable), the sentence should be: I am a stupid.
But it can't be: I am a very stupid. (adverb can't modify noun)

I am very stupid. I am a little stupid.
("very" and "a little" are adverbs)
("very stupid" can't be a noun phrase) adverb can't modify noun!!

AM I STUPID? It is basics!

I guess if you pretended to be as pretty as somebody else might be very romantic .

這些口語式句子不能嚴格講究文法. 基本上是對的.

I guess
that (hidden word)
you pretending to be somebody else (noun clause)
is (verb)
kind of romance (noun phrase)

'you pretending to be somebody else' is colloguial

1. 我建議你先翻查一次你所提供的例句是否有錯,按我理解應是「I guess your pretending to be somebody else is kind of romantic.」意思是「我猜你假裝成別人是種浪漫行徑。」在此,pretending是動名詞而不是pretned的現在進行式分詞,所以無需繫動詞are作修飾。

按你例句的句型看,後接的從句(或稱子句)"is kind of romantic",顯然是一predicative clause,作用是描述前句,由於繫動詞為is,所以描述的並非句子主詞而是前述的一整個事件(complete event)。

2. 當然可以,從句本身可以是一完整句子,而完整句子中當然可以有從句。例如:「I'm tired for working a whole day to give a big help to Tom at his new apartment across the harbour.」在句中,「for working……harbour.」是解釋從句,作用為解釋前文「tired」的原因,而在此從句中,「to give……Tom」是進一步的解釋從句,作用為解釋「working」的原因,「at his……harbour.」為限定從句,作用為指出事發地點。

to 「雪兒」:

1. are pretending 並非 passive voice而只是繫動詞+進行式分詞,pretend 的第二人稱單數 passive voice 應是 was pretended (to)。不過按字義邏輯而言,除死物外,pretend 似乎很難作passive voice。

to 「雪兒」:

2. 即使are pretending真是passive voice,也不代表不能使用,雖然前面「I guess you」是active voice,但主詞是「I」,而後面的pretend所屬的施事者卻是「you」,所以並無衝突。例如「I believe that the world was created by God.」I believe是active而was created 是passive,這樣組句在語態上絕無矛盾。

No, " kind of romantic / kinda romantic" is a noun phrase. The word "romantic" here isn't an adjective but noun. So, a noun follow with an adverbial phrase is a noun phrase.

To Anonymous I understand from your sentence "I guess you pretending to be somebody else is kind of romantic" that you are indeed need to the rewritten of a straight forward and clear meaningful sentence, which should be:"I guess your pretentious to be somebody else"It is clearly subject, verb, and predicate be connected with word -order. and should be Indirect before Direct..We would consider the adverb clause of concession"your pretentious to be somebody also"is also Indirect before the Direct in "is kind of romantic act"
The sentence would be self explanatory now.
There is no clause within a clause, because "kind of romantic act" is a phrase.

Ans1:"are pretending" is a passive voice
" I guess you" is a active voice!
