English question, please help?

skill - how do you pronounce it? Do you pronounce it as
1. s "sound" + kill, or
2. s "sound" + gill

From my personal experience, people seem to be pronouncing the second one instead of the first one, whereas IPA in the dictionary says the first one. I am confused. Please clarify and thanks.

Same goes with:

Excuse me. (Should it be pronounced as "X kills me" or "X Gills me"?)
Thanks.

It's actually between the two. English doesn't make a distinction between aspirated and non-aspirated consonants, and after "s" the "k" sound which is normally aspirated becomes non-aspirated. English speakers don't think of the two sounds as different, but speakers of other languages, especially if they do distinguish aspiration and non-aspiration might.

1 is correct. You pronounce it the way that it is spelled. "K" never makes the "G" sound.
參考: I speak English, my mother is an English teacher, and it's in the dictionary.
