Yep 4.5 billion years.
Interesting fact. All matter was once energy.

Or possibly a trillionth of a milisecond. How would you ever know?

About 4.5 billion years old.

Scientists have settled on the age of the earth of about 4.6 billion years as a result of research started almost 50 years ago. This conclusion was based upon carefully designed and conducted experiments that compared the ratios in rock samples of parent elements to daughter elements ( some of which would have been from radioactive decay of the parent, some of which may have been present in the sample at the time of formation). Since radioactive decay is known to occur at a constant rate, the age of a rock can be determined from the ratio of the parent element to the daughter element. The concerns about these dating methods were exactly the same that creationists continue to raise - presence of the daughter element at the time the rock was formed and possible loss / gain of either the parent or daughter element at some point in the history of the rock. For this reason, the tests were designed to account for those possibilities.

How old is the earth in terms of what? The earth? The solar system? The universe?

Where you measure time makes a difference.
In terms of time as it is measured on the earth, the earth is about 4.5 billion years old. In terms of time as measured at our sun, it's slightly younger (about 4.35 billion years). In terms of the universe's clock, it may only be a few days old.

Not more than 10,000 years. That's a fact because the Bible says so, and the Bible is infallible.

Some people would tell you christians would say roughly 6 thousand years old. They get that by adding up the ages of people in the bible like adam is 300 his son bla bla is 200 so on and so forth and they get 6 thousand. Some christians are ignorant to that and think that the bible says the world is 6 thousand years old not the case. The world is 4-6 billion years old and the bible doesn't disagree with that.

There's overwhelming evidence to suggest that it's 4.54 billion years old, which is approximately a third of the age of the universe. The sun is a third generation star.

The bible doesn't explain how long it has exsited, exist when the earth was exactly made but for all we know it cud have been there more than, millions of years and even scientist aren't a 100% sure they can estimate but they don't know exactly only god knows, but probly 6 million years.

It is written: 'A day it to a thousand years as a thousand years is to a day.'
So creation took billions of years. God took billions of years (in our time) to create each day.
So knowing this, God could have created the dinosaurs and by the end of that very day, they could have been extinct and probably were.
So creation took billions of our years to create. Then after God was done with creation, God made the day 24 hours.
Also know this, God is outside of time. God created time and is not bound by it. So a billion years to God in less than a blink of an eye.
By this the earth appears to be about 13-14 billion years old, just like science verifies. Yet is only about 6,000 years with one long week mixed in the beginning during creation.
bless you.
Day one= the length of time science says it takes to do all God did that day.
Day two-five= the same as above.
Day six= God created more and made man, then God made the day 24 hours long.
Day seven God rested.

Assuming the earth was made at the time of Adam and Eve, around 7 thousand years old.

You see God can make something that takes a long time to develop in just the blink of an eye. Cuz He's outside time.

No older then the moment before you thought
of the question. You are welcome.
2011-09-26 11:36 am
It's as old as you think it is. There is no way of telling -- otherwise there'd be no arguments.

It isn't that clear, and there are renowned geologists who think it is old, and those equally as respected who think it is young.

Dating methods are not accurate; one must have many assumptions about conditions in the past when dating with any of the available methods.

Once again, there are more important things to consider than the age of the earth,
