let's first divulge in the meaning of 'photography'

photo means light

graph means to draw

so basically, "to draw with light"

if there isn't any light, you can't draw, right?

Cameras need light. Period. If there is less light, such as during a night shot, the camera will increase the sensitivity, causing the noise that you see. Along with that, you will use slower shutter speeds which will increase chance of blur.

I think you will find its a matter of exposure time. Some cameras are unable to cope with low light settings. Put your camera on a time setting and shoot a few shots at different exposure times but remember put the camera on a tripod. Remember that the faster the film speed the grainier the resulting pictures.

It's not just the S3300. It's true for all cameras even the ones installed in the Hubblescope. Photography is the act of capturing light so it becomes pretty obvious that when there is lesser light like at night, there is not much to capture making the resulting picture bad. The trick is knowing how to set the camera correctly to get enough light to produce decent pictures even at night.

Some cameras have an adjustment to keep the sensor at the same sensitivity, but that means that the exposure has to be long using a tripod.

try changing the setting on your camera at night. I know there is a night setting on some cameras so try that if it's on yours
