You miss out something. You should state that the methylpropan-2-ol has a branched-chain while butan-1-ol has a straight chain first. The former one thus has a rod shape and the latter one has a sphere shape. More spaces are occupied between methylpropan-2-ol rather than probutan-1-ol.
