F.3 Phy問題...Plz Help!

The markings on a calibrated thermometer have faded away. We know that the column lengths for 0℃ and 80℃ are 6 cm and 21 cm respectively. What is the column length for 37℃ ?

Thank you!

There is an increase of (21-6) cm = 15 cm of column length for a temperature hange of 80 degrees C. Hence, the calibration should be
= 15/80 cm/C = 0.1875 cm/C

Therefore, at 37'C, the increase in column length = 37 x 0.1875 cm = 6.9375 cm
The column length = (6.9375 + 6) cm = 12.9375 cm
