Once upon a time I thought that the subject of Levitation looked like a pathetic excuse for reality for a few folk (off with the proverbial fairies in New Age gaga land). Then … one day this young man contacted me via email. He wanted to learn how to levitate. He said, in his email, that since I seemed to know so much about magic that I could surely help him.
Email after email flew back and forth.
No matter what I wrote/suggested by way of common-sense and/or useful magical stuff that he could learn, he kept coming back with the subject of Levitation. He sent me links to New Age websites where folk claimed to levitate, but gave no practical hints on achieving this goal.
As it so happened, albeit an unusual fact, this young man actually lived near me. We agreed to meet up at the next monthly “Pagans in the Park” gathering, although he had not ever gone to these events before. I said that I would bring a few books on modern magic for him to borrow, and we could discuss Levitation if he wanted.
The day arrived, warm and sunny and I got there first. I waited and watched for someone new to arrive. Then a car pulls up. A young woman driver gets out of the car and walks across to open the passenger-side door. She helps a young man into his wheel-chair.
I hope that I have just sent a shiver down your spine …
