In the Bible, a concubine is a female slave - not necessarily a sex slave, though certainly available as a sex slave. The Bible does NOT teach that David had 70-80 concubines. If I remember correctly, we can only be certain of 10 concubines of David based on the Bible.

I think you might have him confused with his son Solomon, who had 700 wives and 300 concubines. He was the wealthiest man who ever lived, and he was a king, which is how that happened. He also said that he "denied [himself] no pleasure".

it was his son solomon

he made treaties with nations and then married a daughter of the ruler of that nation

I thought he was supposed to have 200.
The Bible says he got the chicks through political alliances.

King David never even saw most of the concubines which are second wives. The women were housed in a separate palace.The women were gifts from political alliances and treaties
