Two traingles are similar. The sides of one triangleare 2, 4 and 6 and the perimeter of the second triangle is 60.How long are thesides of second triangle?(Hint: let x be the shortest side)


Let x, y and z be the sides of the second triangle,
where x < y < z.

The perimeter of the first triangle = 2 + 4 + 6 = 12
The perimeter of the second triangle = 60

Since the two triangles are similar, the corresponding lengths are inproportion.
x/2 = y/4 = z/6 = 60/12

x/2 = 60/12
x = 10

y/4 = 60/12
y = 20

z/6 = 60/12
z = 30

Hence, the sides of the second triangle is 10, 20 and30.
