How do I transport photos from a cell phone into a computer?

I have a Samsung propel, and an imac. I am trying to transfer the photos into my computer, but it doesn't really work that well! But when I do plug the phone into the computer, iPhoto opens, but the pictures don't import! Please help! Thank you

If you had a micro SD card with your phone, then you can take that out and use a card reader to transfer the photos. Also I think imac has bluetooth? If it does, you can transfer your photos that way as well. Just pair your phone and computer, and send it through.
