What's the difference between jump and hop?

I heard "jump" means that jumping with both feet the same time, whereas "hop" means jumping with the same one leg.

But how about rabbits? Why do rabbits "hop" but not "jump", rabbits don't "jump" with just one leg right? And is it acceptable if I say "the rabbits are jumping". Please clarify, thanks.

Jumping is more forcefull than hopping. Hopping is done in Hop Scotch, which makes it a leisurely action.
