chat with foreigners....

although they won't mind, it would be a lil bit odd.. so i suggest that you act as if your on a project like
"hi..I'm doing a project about the foreigners in hong kong would you like to have a lil chat?"
"what do you come to hk for?"
"what's your feeling towards hk and hk ppl?"
since you said your doing a project based on foreigners in hk you couldnt ask
something else other than hk (lol)

ok second try here we go:
say you're having a project on a specific country/ u just happen to keeeen on that country
You "Hi :) :) (yea keep smilin) where do you come from?"
Him "England"
You "Great! I'm doing a project about England and English culture, would you like to help? :):):)" or "Great wow I love england, (in this case you need to do some research beforehand) I heard that england is...."
So there is odd that they may find you weird in the latter case
so the 'project' thing is more 'appropriate'

anyway i think if your a girl and looks decent, some chatting will be welcomed by guys at starbucks or somewhere else..
go to place like tst central soho stanley the airport or the like, then its not weird you talk to them, the places are international anyway :)
