1. Before you get your Green Card status, no job for you. (Not necessary to be the physical car, but the status of premanent resident.

2. What kind of jobs you can get depending on your education and experience. Job market wasn't good in US, but there are something available if you are willing to do.

A degree from HK, which U, your grade, pass working expierence, the major. All this makes great difference. English - will you be able to communicate with other? Does job in your major requires to speak or write a lot? (e.g. Some jobs as programmer requires a lot less English Speaking comparing to Tech support, even both requires speak and communicate in English, but a lot programmers are ok with a heavy accent.)

If your degree is not too impressive, and your English is not good enough to communicate without problem. My guess is that you will start with some Chinatown or Chinese company OFFICE job such as bank teller. Earning could be as low as minimum wage around $8 per hour. Unlikely to get anything over $15 per hours. How fast you can "move up" and how far you can go will really depending on your own improvement.

Regardless where you go, immigration is basically a new start of life - so no one knows what kinds of opportunities you will experienced.

But for sure - even you want to do the same profession, it will still take a while as you need to meet all licensing and education requirement.
