In this essay, I will not mention the details of what I have learnt and what I have done during this training. On the contrary, I will focus on my feeling after completing this training.
Certainly, I would like to say thanks to Mr. Chan and Mr. Lam for their efforts to teach us and share their experience at sea during training period. Although two weeks training is not a long period to teach us lots of things, I could completely feel their passion for teaching all their knowledge to us. Moreover, they also remind us that the correct attitude is to become a seafarer. This is the most important thing for the engine cadet officer as they haven’t had any idea to work at ship before.
For me, I have adjusted my attitude since I made a decision to enter this career. I have been well prepared since I studied Yr. 1 in Maritime School three year ago. So this is not a matter for me.Honestly speaking, the training not only gave me a chance to practice what I have learnt from the Institute, but also widened my horizon, especially by joining the tug boat operation, visiting the dock yard and familiarizing myself with the engine room of the sea-going vessel to recognize the daily operation of the engine officer. In my opinion, this is the most valuable part in the training because this can help us understand how the other department operating and their working procedure. All of this knowledge (is) cannot be read on books.
Finally, I am so glad that I can become a member of CCo. Through this training, I can feel that CCo does not just treat us as an ordinary employee. Unlike other companies, CCo really wants to train us to become a future Master and help us to develop a path to success. CCo has never disappointed me and I hope I will not disappoint CCo in the future. I cannot promise (that) I will become a master or a mate officer in a designated time, but at least I can promise I will put all my effort to become a competent seafarer in my future.
