To me, presidents make changes while they are in the house, but the real changes come after they leave the office. Simple way to think about it? Any law that presidents want to pass, how long does it take to take in full effect? It's not like once they sign something to a law or create new programs (unless it is something drastic like a bail out. even so, that took time to process through) and have a start date as tomorrow. It takes years to implement them.

Either way, I still think that they have no power. Well, they don't have power especially because laws or new programs do not start out until they are almost out of office or entirely out of office. For instance, if cutting the fiscal defit is a key point then just cut them! That will make things change drastically!! Isn't that what people want? Well, not going to happen and can't happen. I don't think he would have been able to prevent it when it started... I think it was inevitable. I do think he has the ability to change it and fix it from where it is now though.
